Dimitri and Lindsay
From the very first moment that I meant them, I know that Dimitri and Lindsay were special. He has a passion for everything that he does, and she is focused as well. They were obviously so much in love. I consulted with them for nearly two hours about what was important to them in a wedding ceremony. They wanted to mention her deceased father, and he wanted to make certain that they included special recognition from each other’s ethnic background. She is Jewish and he is Greek. They wanted their wedding to be personal, and intimate. Her granddad would walk her down the aisle.
Sensational Ceremonies provided them with a planning kit to use as the basis of their ceremony, and they went to work – selecting items that they wanted to use in their custom ceremony. Then they went even deeper, by choosing items that fit their style. They incorporated the Stefana Ceremony in to their wedding. This is a traditional Greek practice where the best man exchanges the crowns over their heads to seal the union of the couple. They also included the traditional Jewish Ceremony of Breaking the Glass, with the implied prayer… May your bond of love be as difficult to break as it would be to put together the pieces of this glass. Finally, they wrote why they love each other in direct and loving terms. The custom ceremony that they developed was emotional and completely theirs. It told their story in terms that only they could tell it!
They asked me to read the following verse at the end and just before I pronounced them husband and wife. It is so beautiful and just perfectly reflects their feelings at the time of their marriage. This comes directly from their ceremony, and is exactly as I read it:
“Before I pronounce you married partners, I have just one more thing I want you to do. Your wedding day is one that seems to fly. It’s a day filled with emotion, friends, rings and dances. So I want you to take a few seconds to look into each other’s’ eyes. Think about the happiness that you’re feeling in this place, in this moment. Really let that feeling register in your heart and your mind. Now, I want you to think about your life together in twenty years. Where are you? What are you doing? We all know that your visions of the future are not identical, but always complimentary. John Lennon once said, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together, THAT is reality.” That new reality starts now”
This is so beautifully stated and goes right to the heat of why they were getting married. They were so committed and focused. Their marriage will be a strong marriage! Keep dreaming Dimitri and Lindsay!!!!
I have attached a photo of the couple on their wedding day in April, 2015. Their wedding will always be special in my mind and heart. Each ceremony is that way for me. Each leaves a piece of itself with me. That is why I do what I do. I am constantly growing and changing and learning from the experience. How wonderful that is!
I want to thank the following vendors for their excellent performance at the Lake Mary Events Center on April 25, 2015. Without their superior performance, my work would be nothing at all. We were a great team on that day.
